Primer Guest Article

October 2009 By Luke 2 Comments

Whisky_FeatureThe team over at Primer Magazine recently asked me to write a guest article, so I wrote a brief primer (excuse the pun) on scotch whisky.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

“I was confident that beer was the Holy Grail for a man’s palate. Then I started drinking scotch.

It’s a scary step to take. The jump from 5 to 40+% alcohol, the distillation process, the regions and production methods. The more you learn, the more you start to see the similarities between beer and whisky.”

    Luke,

Terrific info. Your how it’s made graph is perfect. Thanks.

Under the sub-heading, Different Varieties, you say, “… the islands of the east are known for strong, peaty whiskies.” East?

Wow, I must’ve been dyslexic when I wrote that or something. The lowlands are definitely in the south-east, and the islands on the west coast. I’ll get them to fix that up, thanks!
