I don’t know much about pipes, but The Art of Manliness had a great primer today on smoking a pipe. Everything from the materials needed (a pipe, tamper/cleaner, matches/lighter, tobacco) to how to smoke. Check out the full article here.
I’ve seen many people compare cigars and pipes, and in general both have their merits. I say to each their own. I’ve only smoked a pipe a handful of times, but I’m definitely craving a pipe after reading that article.
The Art of Manliness recently had a great article on the 15 manliest smells. Here were (understandably) my 2 favourites on the list:
Scotch: “The warm, rich, smokey smell of an aged scotch whisky [...], a scent that will put hair on the chest of any man who takes a whiff”
Pipe Smoke: “A whiff of a nice clove or cherry wood blend summons images of kindly older men in tweed jackets sitting in a chair next to a warm cozy fire with an old dog nearby.”
